Overview

Nestled at 27 Kosciusko Avenue in Corio, Victoria, Kosciusko Avenue Fish & Chips stands out as a classic takeaway spot that brings a heartfelt nod to traditional fish and chips with a fresh, local touch. This unassuming corner shop delivers an authentic dining experience, capturing the essence of old-school Australian fish and chip shops while embracing a warm, welcoming community vibe.

At its core, Kosciusko Avenue Fish & Chips excels in serving flaky, perfectly battered fish that strikes the elusive balance between crisp and tender. Unlike many modern outlets where fish can often be dry or overprocessed, this venue prides itself on using fresh ingredients and changing cooking oil regularly—ensuring every bite bursts with genuine flavor. The customer feedback consistently highlights the homemade quality of the offerings, especially their potato cakes that evoke nostalgia with real sliced potato dipped in batter just like the days gone by.

Beyond the signature fish and chips, the menu offers a variety of snacks that enhance the experience — from golden onion rings and garlic chicken balls to crumbed prawns and fish bites. The presence of desserts like pineapple and banana fritters, jam donuts, and even a small Mars Bar in batter adds a playful edge, perfect for those seeking a sweet finish to their meal. This variety caters well to families and locals who appreciate a hearty takeaway that appeals to both traditional and adventurous palates.

The space itself reflects a friendly neighborhood takeaway rather than a formal dining venue, fostering a relaxed atmosphere supported by attentive, local staff. Several patrons note the friendly, hands-on ownership; a lady genuinely passionate about her business, which seems to translate directly into the quality and consistency of the food. This personal touch elevates the experience, making Kosciusko Avenue Fish & Chips not just a place to grab a quick meal, but a community gem where customers feel valued and welcomed.

Serving the local Corio community and beyond, this takeaway is an ideal choice for those seeking a no-frills, reliable fish and chip meal with a homemade flair. Whether you’re a local looking for a trusted regular spot or a newcomer drawn by glowing word of mouth, the fusion of quality ingredients, traditional recipes, and genuine care makes Kosciusko Avenue Fish & Chips a standout in the takeaway scene. It’s that rare find where every order feels like a slice of home.

Hidden Gem. One of kind, old school fish and chip shop. Off a side street but once you find it, live haven. Burger’s here are real ! Home made patties, not frozen rubbish like all in area. Flake is gold. Oh the home made potato cakes (small) but are like from the 80’s or 90’s. when it was deal dipped in batter with real sliced potato. Top staff, run by a lady who loves her business 10/10

Grab some dinner last night and was not disappointed. Great price and great serving size. Usually sceptical with flake as most places the fish is dry and the batter is oily but I couldn't fault the flake at all. Nice batter and a beautiful piece of fish. Definitely will be back

So happy I stumbled across this fish and chips shop! Started cooking fish and chips at the age of 12, now 41.. Have many years of experience of knowing what the best is and struggle to find it these days and in my area. I traveled to the other side of Geelong for work, grabbed a burger and potato cakes and man… Burger blew me away, fresh FRESH ingredients!! The whole patty made from scratch like I used to as a junior way back. Ridiculously delicious and cheaper than anywhere else. The spud cakes, also cut fresh, blanched the old school way & just mouth wateringly delicious. I have since made a trip back, 45mins, not ate all day just to have a feed from here. Best money spent and will spend again! Do yourself a favour, wherever you live in Geelong, take a drive a have your hard earned spent on quality takeaway food, made and prepared the right way. Thank you!!
